NACS Conference 2021: 'From far and wide': Cultures, memories and identities in Canada

NACS-XIII 2021: 'From far and wide': Cultures, memories and identities in Canada

Aarhus, Denmark, Wed 11 – Fri 13 August 2021

In collaboration with the Canadian Studies Centre at Aarhus University, the Nordic Association for Canadian Studies (NACS) invites submissions for papers for the thirteenth Nordic international, cross-disciplinary Canadian Studies conference. The theme of the conference – From far and wide’ should be understood very broadly and can be taken literally or metaphorically. Our aim is to bring together scholars studying Canada at all career stages. Our association operates across the five Nordic countries, but we welcome paper proposals from anyone working on Canada in the Nordic countries, elsewhere in Europe, in North America and anywhere in the world.

We are looking especially, but not exclusively, for contributions in the following fields:

history / political science / literature & the arts / aboriginal affairs /

Arctic & other regional studies / human & cultural geography / biography

Papers may focus on:

- cross-cultural encounters
- regions of Canada, including the Arctic & the North
- indigenous peoples and other population groups or individuals
- migration & settlement, including shifting ideologies & experiences
- animals, plants and the environment
- Canadian politics, including international forums
- questions of energy and transport
